Dear the internet at large: A "run-on sentence" is not just any sentence you think is really long or contains more clauses than you want. It is a specific type of error, in which multiple independent clauses are connected improperly. "I like eating cake, chocolate is my favorite" is a run-on sentence despite being only eight words. "I like eating cake, but baked potatoes are my favorite food" is not a run-on sentence despite being longer than the previous.
If you're going to "fix" a "run-on sentence", please make sure the thing you're fixing is in fact a run-on sentence. Thank you for your attention, and I hope for your support.
